A Customised Jewel: The Abacus Ring in Gold & Silver

One of the things I love most about my work is when clients ask me to create a customised version of a jewel they’ve fallen in love with. A customised jewel isn’t the same as a full bespoke commission. It starts with one of my existing designs and adapts it to suit your taste, whether that’s a different metal, gemstone, or a small tweak to make it truly yours.
This Abacus Ring is the perfect example.

My client had seen my silver Abacus Ring online and loved its playful, tactile quality as the bead spins back and forth, like an abacus you can wear on your hand. But she wanted something a little different: a warm 9ct yellow gold band, paired with a cool silver bead.
The result is a unique two-tone ring, full of contrast yet completely harmonious. The gold feels rich and timeless, while the silver bead adds lightness and movement. A small shift in materials, and suddenly the ring takes on a new personality, one that feels entirely personal to its wearer.
What does "customised" mean?
Customised jewels allow you to take an existing design of mine and adjust it, perhaps you’d like a sapphire instead of a diamond, white gold instead of silver, or a touch of mixed metal. It’s a wonderful way to put your own stamp on one of my signature pieces, while still keeping the integrity of the original design.
If you’ve seen something in my collections that you’d like adapted, I’d love to hear from you. You can explore more about how I work on customised jewels here
