Ceylon Sapphires. Modern Jewellery with Heritage at Heart
South Asian Heritage Month has just come to a close, and it feels like the right moment to share how sapphires from Sri Lanka continue to inspire my work.

Sri Lanka, the country of my birth, once known as Ceylon, has long been celebrated for its extraordinary sapphires. These gemstones, found in a breathtaking range of natural colours, have travelled through history as symbols of beauty, wisdom, and strength.
In my jewellery, I reimagine these traditional stones for today. Each sapphire is set by hand in my London studio using traditional goldsmithing techniques and sometimes in my signature molten style. The result is jewellery that feels raw, modern, and deeply personal that is made to be worn every day, yet significant enough to be treasured for a lifetime.
For me, working with Ceylon sapphires is about more than aesthetics. It is about honouring the story of the stone and creating pieces that carry both history and contemporary meaning.

If you are drawn to the beauty of Ceylon sapphires and would like to explore a bespoke jewel, I would love to create something unique for you.
