From Old Gold to New Heirlooms - A Recent Remodel Commission

There is something deeply meaningful about remodelling jewellery.
It sits at the intersection of memory, artistry, and renewal by taking materials that already hold history and transforming them into something that can be worn and loved every day.
Recently, a client came to me with a small collection of heirloom pieces: some were broken, some outdated, and some simply no longer her style. But the sentiment was still there. The memories were still there. The value was still there.
Instead of leaving those pieces tucked away in a drawer, we decided to turn them into something new.
Breathing new life into heirloom gold
After assessing her jewellery, we traded in her old gold and used the value of it towards a new bespoke piece. From those inherited materials, I handcrafted a pair of molten-gold ruby and diamond earrings in my signature style, small, sculptural and quietly luxurious.
These earrings weren’t simply “made”.
They were reborn, carrying the heart of the original pieces while becoming jewels she can actually wear every day. The sentiment lives on, but in a form that feels current, personal and truly hers.

Why remodel?
Remodelling jewellery is one of the most sustainable ways to create something meaningful. It allows you to:
-
reuse gold and gemstones you already own
-
preserve emotional history in a wearable way
-
create a piece that suits your style today
-
reduce waste and unnecessary new mining
-
invest in a one-of-a-kind jewel made just for you
For many clients, it’s a way of honouring loved ones and reconnecting with their own story.
Thinking of a remodel or bespoke commission?
If you’ve been considering a remodel, redesign or bespoke piece for 2025, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about it.
I’ll be at the N4 Jewellers Market at Abney Hall this Saturday, 29th November, and you’re very welcome to come and chat to me in person.
Bring your ideas, questions, or even your old gold. I’m always happy to talk through possibilities and guide you gently through the process.
You can also learn more about my bespoke jewellery commissions, remodelling, and how the journey works on my website.
A piece that feels like yours
My aim with every commission, whether I’m working with rough diamonds, sapphires or heirloom gold, is to create a jewel that feels soulful, considered, and unique to you. A piece that carries meaning, not just materials.
If you’d like to explore your own remodel or bespoke project, you can contact me directly any time or come say hello this weekend.
