Transforming a heirloom ring into a sculptural rough diamond ring

Raluca, a follower of my work on social media, contacted me earlier this year to reimagine her heirloom family ring—a gift from her partner’s family—into one of my signature rough diamond designs. She loved the molten, sculptural aesthetic of my jewellery and wanted a contemporary piece she’d enjoy wearing.

She envisioned a three-stone ring in white metal, incorporating a rough diamond I’d supply alongside two diamonds from her original ring. After agreeing on an initial concept and timeframe, Raluca sent me her ring, which turned out to be 18ct yellow gold. I offered to sell the gold for scrap value to offset the cost of her new piece. 

I shared videos of rough diamonds from my collection and suggested designs that complemented her vision. Once Raluca chose her favourite diamond, I began crafting the ring. Midway, she decided to remove the heirloom diamonds and simplify the design further—a change I happily accommodated.

The final result was a refined, sculptural ring in white gold that Raluca loved. She later shared, "Thank you so much for refining it. It's perfect now!"

This project was a joy to bring to life, blending sentimental value with modern craftsmanship.
