This bespoke ring was created in sterling silver, set with a London blue topaz and repurposed diamonds, combining sculptural detail with rich, deep colour.
The Story Behind the Piece
This piece began as something else entirely.
I originally made a silver model for my client to visualise a bespoke gold ring she had commissioned, as a way for her to see the form, proportions, and feel of the design before it was made in gold.
She went ahead with the final gold piece. But then came back to me and said she loved the silver model just as much.Rather than leaving it as a prototype, we decided to transform it into a finished piece in its own right.
The Design Process
We reworked the original model into a wearable ring.A London blue topaz was sourced for the centre, chosen for its depth of colour and contrast against the silver. We then incorporated diamonds the client already owned, taken from a previous piece I had remodelled for her.The design retains the organic, sculptural qualities of the original model, with the addition of carefully set stones that bring it to life.
The Finished Piece
The result is a ring that feels both spontaneous and considered. The deep blue of the topaz sits against the soft, matte silver, while the diamonds add light and detail. It has a slightly raw, natural quality, a jewel that feels shaped rather than overly refined.
A reminder that sometimes the in-between stages of making can hold just as much value as the final intention.
