A bespoke jewellery remodelling commission transforming an existing pair of gold earrings into softer, more fluid contemporary drops inspired by my Sequin Collection.
The Story Behind the Piece
My client came to me with existing jewels that no longer felt quite right for her, despite holding sentimental value. Rather than starting again entirely, we decided to preserve elements of the original design while reimagining the earrings into something more contemporary, wearable, and reflective of her personal style now.
The project became an exercise in refinement rather than reinvention, honouring the history of the original earrings while allowing them to evolve into a quieter, more sculptural form.
The Design Process
We retained the original tops of the earrings and focused on redesigning the lower sections. Drawing inspiration from the fluid shapes and textured surfaces found throughout my Sequin Collection, I created a softer series of articulated gold drops designed to move naturally when worn.
Texture and movement became central to the design. The new lower elements were carefully balanced to feel light, organic, and understated while still carrying a sense of presence and craftsmanship. The result was a pair of earrings that felt more contemporary and aligned with the client’s style without losing their connection to the original piece.
Each section was handcrafted and finished in my London studio.
The Finished Piece
The final earrings are elegant, tactile, and quietly expressive, contemporary gold drops with subtle movement and softly textured surfaces that catch the light gently as they move.
By preserving part of the original earrings while introducing a completely new lower form, the remodel creates a balance between sentiment and modernity. The finished piece feels both personal and timeless.
